In today's world information is the most vital weapon. You lose the battle if you lose this information. Therefore, utmost care must be taken to, so that these weapons do not fall into wrong hands.
Lets analyze the threats to this information:
- Internal threat : As higher level of trust is accorded to the internal audiences, attackers within organization often have access to important and confidential information. Therefore a large percentage of attacks upon information may come from internal sources. If the loses are measured in monetary terms, internal attacks cost more than external attacks. But external security is given priority than internal.
- External threat : Hacking is common today and this is the major external threat. Apart form this we do have Virus, Trojan, Worm, Tunneling threats.
